It’s Five Minute Friday time again. The time of the week when I join with a bunch of other amazing bloggers over at Kate Motaung‘s place to write about a one word prompt for five minutes straight. This week’s prompt is Prepare.
As the year comes to an end many begin to look forward to the new year. We start making plans, filling out budgets and marking our calendars. There are files to update and appointments to make. We may even begin to prepare for new routines that may include bible studies and exercise programs.
We make detailed plans for the future but are they just our plans. What I mean is do we just look ahead to see the outcome we want? Do we just list the step we think will get us there? Or do you seek God’s direction?
Planning and being prepared is good. It is even needed in many areas of our life. However, we need to also be flexible to allow God to move us. We need to let His voice lead and guide us.
I am one of the worst at letting go of the plans I have and allow myself to be interrupted.
But if I am honest that happens all the time.
So as 2014 comes to an end and I do begin to make plans for 2015 I pray that I will follow the narrow path God has laid out before me. I pray that I don’t hold so tight to my schedule that I don’t have any room to sit and hold the hand of a friend grieving. I don’t want to be hurrying off to the next appointment that I can’t stop a minute to share in the joy of a friend announcing that she is expecting after year of infertility. I don’t want 2015’s goal to post more here on my little blog to lock me to the computer so much that I don’t sit on the couch for a movie with my family or have dinner with a friend.
