Back in 2015 when I first began working on getting healthy, I simply began by walking. The first month I was barely able to make it down the drive way and back. I slowly increased my distance and then decide to join my friends with the 21 Day Fix. Since I started the program in July, I’ve been working out at least 6 days a week. That is up until March 20, when the pain of Piriformis Syndrome became way too much to even allow me to walk.
So I began the quest to find relief. I consulted with my primary care doctor. I visited a chiropractor many times. Finally, the pain had subsided enough that I decided I might be able to hit the weights again. I began last week by just going through the motions and it felt good to get going again. Then this week I’ve tried to add the weights back.
It ‘s been hard. I was doing my second set of round on last night and had to press pause cause the weights were just to much. I wanted to walk away not just for the night but forever. I wanted to give up and go eat a Twinkie.
After a few minutes (and a couple of tears), I decided to hit the play button again. A few minutes into it Autumn began to praise one of the participates on the DVD. The girl had changed out to lighter weights. Instead of asking why. Instead of complaining that she had give up. Autumn was praising her for continuing on. She cheered that this in shape, thin, capable participate continued to just keep moving no matter what it took.
No matter if it is our our health, the health of family, a job loss or a number of other life events that can cause us to want to give up. I understand. I’ve been there. I’ve dealt with that junk in my past. You have to learn to keep going. You may have to press pause, take a breathe but don’t stop. If God woke you up this morning, with breath in your lungs, then He has a plan for you. A purpose of you to just keep moving.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~~ Matthew 11: 28-30
Along my fitness journey I have found a group of women that are on the same path. We have come together to hold one another accountable, lift each other up in pray and share victories together. Life is no different. God is there for you to lighten that weight and give you rest. When you rest in Him you find the strength to continue on.
